Meet PL1

Movement you can measure

PL1 is a wearable sensor system that turns physiotherapy exercises into objective data in real time.

In development. Early access for clinics and researchers.

The problem

Recorded, but not measured

Physiotherapy sessions get recorded in notes, but rarely benchmarked. Notes capture what was done, not how well it was done, and without an objective reading to compare against, changes in range and symmetry go unnoticed until they matter.

Benchmarked, not just noted

How PL1 works

How a session runs

A pair of PL1 sensors, one for each limb.
Step 01

Place the sensors

One on each limb, in the same spot every time. They pair over Bluetooth in seconds. No cameras, no markers.

Step 02

Do the exercise

Perform the prescribed physiotherapy movements. The sensors track orientation continuously, through every repetition.

Step 03

Read the result

Joint angle and left against right symmetry appear live on screen, and are saved to the patient record.

Try it

Drag to measure

This is the reading PL1 takes, and the threshold it's measured against. Move the arm and watch a limb go from within range to a flagged deficit.

Goniometer showing 74.0 degrees on the injured limb, which reaches 74 degrees. That is 71 percent of the healthy limb's 104 degrees.Healthy limb 104°

Measured range of motion

71% of the healthy limb

30° short of the healthy limb

The injured limb straightens fully but only comes up to 74°. The healthy limb reaches 104°. Clinics generally treat anything under 90% of the healthy side as a real deficit rather than normal variation between repetitions.

Drag the handle, or focus it and use the arrow keys.

The clinician app

See it in action

Select a patient's profile, run a session, read the trend, and add the next referral. All on the iPad already in the room.

The hardware

What's included

Sensor units worn on both limbs at once, streaming to the clinician app. We're actively expanding what PL1 measures.

Motion

Movement sensing

Orientation and movement captured continuously. No cameras and no line of sight required.

Analysis

Form analysis

Joint angle, repetitions and left against right symmetry read as the movement happens.

Wireless

Bluetooth

Pairs straight to the clinician app and streams live.

History

Session records

Every session stored against the patient record for review.

Who it's for

Clinicians and their patients

For clinicians

Physiotherapy & clinics

  • Range of motion tracked across a course of treatment
  • Technique recorded, not just attendance
  • Progress conversations grounded in data
For patients

Recovery & performance

  • Confirm each repetition is performed correctly
  • Watch range of motion improve week to week
  • Return to daily activity or sport on evidence, not guesswork
The name

Plato argued that physical training and intellectual training had to advance together. Neither works properly alone. Movement and measurement belong together. That is what we build.
